Celebrate 75 Years of the Great Cross of Christ

Thank You for Celebrating 75 Years of the Great Cross of Christ

On September 20, our Jumonville community gathered to celebrate 75 years of the Great Cross of Christ—and what a day it was. From the first notes of worship to the final echoes of laughter across the hillside, the Cross Celebration was filled with the spirit of faith, friendship, and gratitude.

Under clear skies, guests joined together in worship and fellowship while supporting the ongoing Great Cross Restoration Project. We’re so thankful for the overwhelming encouragement and generosity that will help preserve this symbol of hope for generations to come.

The joyful sound of gospel bluegrass from Steve Ludwig and the Casual Hobos filled the air, reminding us how music can bring people together in praise and joy.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the many volunteers who helped make this day possible—especially the Chippewa UMC Youth Group, whose enthusiasm and hard work brought energy to every part of the event. We’re also deeply grateful to Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball for preaching the Word and to the Western Pennsylvania Conference staff for their leadership and participation throughout the celebration.

The Cross Celebration was more than an event—it was a moment of renewal and connection for all who cherish this sacred place. From everyone at Jumonville Camp & Retreat Ministries, thank you for helping us mark 75 years of the Great Cross and for continuing to shine its light through your faith and support.
