Adventure Activities
Playground
Our playground gets good use in the summer camping program and is also available for your retreat group, weather permitting. It is popular with “Kids of all ages.” The playground was rebuilt several years ago after raising funds to replace the old wooden playground with a newer, safer, and more accessible playground.
View ActivityFit Trail
Jumonville received a very generous grant in 2015 from the Fayette County Tourism Grant Program to install a 10 station fit trail on the hiking trails in the Green Cathedral area of our campus. We are very grateful for their support and anxious to get more guests out and about exploring our trails and getting fit…
View ActivityMountain Boards
Mountain boarding has been a part of Jumonville’s summer camp program for over 10 years. A mountainboard is kind of like a cross between a skateboard and a snowboard that is designed to ride on grass. Helmets, wrist pads, knee pads, elbow pads, and even butt pads are all part of the required gear. It…
View ActivityRescue Basket Teambuilding Course
The Rescue Basket Teambuilding course is one of the newest additions to Jumonville’s extensive Challenge Ropes Course. It utilizes a “rescue basket” that would be used to transfer an injured person from a cave, rock climbing area, or other rough terrain where a vehicle would not be able to be used. The rescue basket is used…
View ActivityFlatwater Rafting
Some of our younger campers have the opportunity to go rafting on some milder sections of the river. We call this flatwater rafting (as compared to whitewater rafting). We use either Hazelbakers Outfitters for our flatwater rafting trips or we use Whitewater Adventures depending on the event and the age level.
View ActivityDuckies
Duckies (or inflatable kayaks) are used on the Middle Youghiogheny River as part of the peddle paddle trips. We start at Ohiopyle State Park and bike along the bike trail for about 10 miles.

Our back room of the Ben Cromer Adventure Center measures 35′ x 40′ and has 24 foot high side walls. There are two large 10″ square garage doors that can be rolled up to provide some great ventilation in the warmer months. Twenty-five different ropes are currently set up for climbing with varying angles and levels…
View ActivityBelay Certification
Belaying refers to a variety of techniques climbers use to exert friction on a climbing rope so that a falling climber does not fall very far. A climbing partner typically takes up the slack in the rope while the climber continues to climb. The partner then applies friction at the other end of the rope to…
View ActivityRappel Station
Jumonville built a Rappel Station several years ago to help our summer campers get ready for rappelling at our various rock climbing sites. It is part of the progression that we have built into our adventure program so that campers are doing appropriate activities for their age level and skill level. The Rappel Station helps…
View ActivityIndividual Elements Challenge Course
Jumonville’s individual elements are located on the top of our mountain in the area between the Great Cross near the Low Element Teambuilding Course. Special arrangements need to be made with the Jumonville office staff if you want to include this activity as part of your group’s experience. The goal of utilizing the individual elements…

A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook (with a pen or pencil). The geocacher enters the date they…
