Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate frisbee is also a favorite of some of Jumonville’s camps. Games can be mild or wild. Senior High Sports Camp always includes a rousing game of ultimate frisbee that has been a camp tradition for years.

Wrist Rockets

Wrist Rockets are like “sling shots.” However, we put a neat twist on it and shoot dog food rather than stones so it is much safer and the dog food is biodegradable.  A fun activity with our own targets that let you know by the sounds if you hit the target.

Tire Swing

Tire Swing The tire swing is a favorite of all ages. Who doesn’t enjoy a turn on the tire swing.

Volleyball

Two asphalt surfaced volleyball courts and two sand volleyball courts are available for use by your group as long as the weather cooperates. Volleyball equipment can be obtained in the Jumonville office. Jumonville has both sand volleyball courts as well as paved courts that are covered in “sport court.”

Baseball Softball

A full baseball/softball field is available for retreat groups, weather permitting.

Tennis

Four outdoor tennis courts are available for retreat groups during warmer weather. A limited number of rackets and equipment can be borrowed from the Jumonville office.

Four Square

Four square is a camp and playground favorite for many. There is almost always a game going. Join in a game and enjoy this “playground” fun!

Nine Square in the Air

Nine Square in the Air is one of our newer games and was a big hit the last several summers. It’s like a combination of volleyball and foursquare and is a very fast moving game that keeps play really moving. Click here to download a pdf file with instructions for nine square in the air.

Gaga Ball

Gaga Ball is a variant of dodgeball that is played with one ball. The game combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the object of hitting opponents with a ball below the knee while avoiding being hit. The game can be played by a group of individual players or with teams, as well as in…

Archery

Archery Ready, aim, let fly! Maybe you’ll hit a bullseye. Jumonville has both archery equipment and a special designated area. Archery is used with a number of summer camps including many sports camps and sampler camps. The equipment is in a locked shed when not in use.  

Games

Games are always an important part of every week of summer camp. Both competitive and non-competitive games build communication skills, deepen relationships, and add fun and excitement to the summer camp experience.

Hiking

Wooded trails through the Green Cathedral give groups space to walk, reflect, and enjoy the mountain setting. The campus fit trail, funded in part by a Fayette County Tourism Grant, features ten exercise stations.
