At Jumonville, groups have access to a wide range of on-site recreation options throughout their stay. Some retreat activities are self-directed and available anytime, while others give groups space to play, explore, and spend time together between sessions.
Whether your group wants to hike wooded trails, play disc golf, gather for a pickup game, or enjoy casual outdoor activities across campus, there are recreation options for every pace and personality.
Outdoor Recreation
Self-directed · Available to all retreat groups · No advance arrangements needed
Disc Golf
Jumonville’s 18-hole disc golf course winds throughout the campus and remains a favorite activity for retreat groups year-round. No reservations or setup required. Just grab a disc and play.
Hiking
Wooded trails through the Green Cathedral give groups space to walk, reflect, and enjoy the mountain setting. The campus fit trail, funded in part by a Fayette County Tourism Grant, features ten exercise stations.
Tennis
Four outdoor tennis courts are available for retreat groups during warmer weather. A limited number of rackets and equipment can be borrowed from the Jumonville office.
Basketball
Outdoor basketball courts are available for pickup games, tournaments, or free time between sessions.
Baseball Softball
A full baseball/softball field is available for retreat groups, weather permitting.
Casual Games & Group Fun
Some of the best retreat moments happen during unplanned free time.
Groups have access to a variety of casual games and outdoor activities across campus with no setup or equipment hauling required.
Nine Square in the Air
Nine Square in the Air is one of our newer games and was a big hit the last several summers. It’s like a combination of volleyball and foursquare and is a very fast moving game that keeps play really moving. Click here to download a pdf file with instructions for nine square in the air.
Ultimate Frisbee
Ultimate frisbee is also a favorite of some of Jumonville’s camps. Games can be mild or wild. Senior High Sports Camp always includes a rousing game of ultimate frisbee that has been a camp tradition for years.
Wrist Rockets
Wrist Rockets are like “sling shots.” However, we put a neat twist on it and shoot dog food rather than stones so it is much safer and the dog food is biodegradable. A fun activity with our own targets that let you know by the sounds if you hit the target.
Angry Birds
Bring your angry birds game to 3-D life. This fun new camp games has been use for the last several years and combines “stuffed” angry birds & pigs, cardboard boxes, and a water ballon launcher. Football is just one of the sports you can learn or improve your skills at if you come to a sports camp this summer or get together a football game with your retreat group. Winter football can be quite interesting and is a tradition for a number of retreat groups!

Swimming
The camp pool is available to retreat groups during summer months. Contact the Jumonville office when inquiring to confirm availability and arrange pool access for your group.
Sledriding
Jumonville’s hills offer sled riding of varying difficulty when there’s snow on the ground. Bring your own sleds, skis, or snowboards — equipment is not provided on campus.
